The issue of gender equality in the workplace has been a subject of discussion over many years as women continue fighting for their position in society through various feminist organizations. Increasing the number of women in law enforcement and the military will eventually play an instrumental role in tipping the balance between men and women. According to McRobie (2013), the balance between men and women in these sectors will emanate from the confidence that will be instilled in women by holding such positions. The high number of women in these sectors will give them more confidence as they continue believing in their capacity to protect and serve their nations in such challenging positions. Watters (2013) affirms that increasing the number of women in law enforcement and military will lead to an automatic balance between women and men as women become more aggressive and develop self-belief in light of the recognition they derive from holding positions in these sectors. Therefore, increasing the number of women in the military and law enforcement will tend to develop a sense of positivity and belief towards the capability of women to deliver hence leading to a balance between women and men.
Additionally, there will be greater gender equality in these workplaces because of the fact that women will also have the opportunity to rise through the ranks and hold higher positions. Increasing the number of women in the military and law enforcement will promote gender equality because women will have the opportunity to rise to leadership positions in their workplaces as backed by their large numbers. Miller (2012) opines that the equal chances given to men and women in these workplaces will ensure that all the junior employees (both men and women) access the fairest form of treatment, which is indicative of greater gender equality in these workplaces.
